Newnham Short Course - Results

On Saturday 30th January four Sidney crews took part in Newnham Short Course, hoping to post good times in comparison to the crews around them in bumps. Taking part were M1, M2, W2 and W3, and all four put in strong performances which bode well for the rapidly approaching Lent Bumps.

M1 recorded the third fastest time of the day, with their time of 6:11.07 putting them within three seconds of winners St Catherine's. An excellent row saw them beating a number of first division crews, including M1 boats from Caius, Churchill, Girton and Christ's.

M2 were also third, coming in behind Magdalene and Pembroke in the M2 division in a time of 6:45.49. This put them ahead of crews significantly higher than them in the Lent Bumps charts, including two second division crews.

In the women's second VIIIs competition, W2 finished fifth in 8:19.40 and were only 10 seconds off second place. For a crew composed mainly of last term's novices competing in their first race of term they produced a strong row and will be looking forward to building on this in forthcoming races.

Finally, in the women's third VIIIs division, W3 came in fourth with a time of 8:49.28, beating some second boats.
