Other Races

SSBC competes in many other races in addition to the Bumps and the Fairbairn Cup, both on and off the Cam.

Popular races for novices in Michaelmas include Queens' Ergs, Emma Sprints and Clare Novice Regatta; while senior crews can enter the Autumn and Winter Head races.

In Lent term many Cambridge colleges go off-Cam and race in Peterborough at the Head of the Nene, while races on the Cam include the Head-2-Head, Newnham Short Course, Robinson Head and Pembroke Regatta. After Bumps have finished a good number of college boats continue to train for some post-Bumps racing: recently SSBC has entered crews in Kingston Head and in the internationally renowned Head of the River race on the Thames Tideway.

Easter term also has its fair share of racing despite the pressures of exams. Aside from the prestigious May Bumps there is the Radegund Mile race at the very beginning of term, the Head of the Cam, the Head-2-Head and City Sprint races, Champs Eights Head and the 99s Regatta.
